How did you get into drawing sketch cards?
Here’s the story. Every year, my friends and I attend a local convention and, whenever I can, I like doing some kind of giveaway there. A couple years ago I bought some cardstock and painted a dozen or so sketchcards. I was carrying them in my pocket during the con and gave them away, by surprise, to whoever crossed my way.

Months later, a few scans of those same cards I’d given away got me my first professional gig. I put together a small submission and sent It to Rittenhouse Archives.  Soon I was working on my first set of Marvel cards.

What is your favorite subject to draw?
When It comes to sketchcards, It has to be superheroes, as well as all sort of comic book related stuff. I love drawing science fiction too, specially the near future kind.

What is your favorite character to draw?
Probably the futuristic version of the Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2099. I was a big fan of those books back in the day. Oh, and the X-Men are always fun to draw too.

Do you prefer black & white sketches or color sketches?
Most of the cards I’ve painted to date were color. I normally make all my coloring with the computer, so It’s nice for me to change tools for a while and do some manual work. That said, I wouldn’t mind taking a crack at black and white at some point. That’d be interesting.

What kind of materials do you prefer to work with?
I use a mix of watercolors and acrylic paint. I’ve also started to ink some of my cards lately, throwing some sharpies and markers into the mix too.

Who is your favorite sketch card artist?
Hard to say, there’s too many to mention. Besides, I’m rather new to the world of sketchcards and I discover new artists almost every day. There’s a lot of talented folks out there.

What are you currently working on?
I’ve drawn a lot of artwork for pen and paper RPGs in the past and I still do from time to time. Right now I’m finishing two small character illustrations for a short single-setting rpg module, coming from the guys over at Worldworks Games. Then there’s my webcomic, “Steel Raining” which updates from time to time, a short story coming from Black Label Comics and a couple more things due later this year.

Has your career as an artist benefited from doing sketch card work?
Definitely. Even though I’m still pretty new to this, I’ve met some really nice artists and fans who have shown some interest about my work. Having your name attached to a broadly known license like the Marvel Heroes doesn’t hurt either and It’s a good incentive to raise your game. I’ve learnt a lot in the last few months and I hope I’ll keep improving in the future.

Do you collect trading cards for yourself?
I still treasure the cards I bought as a kid and keep a messy collection made of whatever falls in my hands. But no, I don’t seek them anymore.

Do you have a website / blog / online presence where readers can find more information about you?
Sure. You can check me out in DeviantArt or in my personal website.
