As the first artistic set of the KISS series, The Legend of KISS tells the story of the famous American rock band and its rise to the top of the musical charts in a full, 100-card base set. The set offers collectors a personal account of the band’s rise to prominence in the mid-1970s through the eyes of the men who lived it. Collectors will actually be able to “read” through the cards like a book and learn the story of the band that has sold more than 100 million records worldwide since its creation in 1973.

“The Legend of KISS product is likely going to be our most popular KISS product yet, as it will offer the collector a personal glimpse into the lives of the men who made the band famous,” said Tom Farrell, Vice President of Brand Management at Press Pass, Inc. “This set is going to have a real ‘wow’ factor in terms of the artistic design of the cards and the truly unique insert and memorabilia cards that can’t be found anywhere else.”
The Legend of KISS is not be broken down into subsets as the previous KISS products have been, but will instead tell the band’s story through the artistic representation of all six KISS members. Eighteen of the cards in the set will feature nine cards that form a larger image on the back, like a puzzle, while the remaining 82 cards will feature copy that will read in storybook-fashion from one card to the next.
The set contains two parallels, including a First Edition Parallel, which features the first 33 printed sets of the base set from the press, numbered to 33. The set will also contain a Proof Edition Parallel, featuring one-color versions of each base card in black (not numbered), cyan (numbered to 25), magenta (numbered to 25) and yellow (numbered to 50).
Highlights of The Legend of KISS set include Pucker Up pop-up cards, each featuring one of the band’s six members – Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Peter Criss, Ace Frehley, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. The set will also feature KISSignature autos of the Starchild, Demon, Catman and Spaceman.
Other highlights of the set include two different – and extremely unique – KISS Kuts. These autographed memorabilia cards will include a swatch of either Simmons or Stanley-worn clothing as well as an autograph of one of the two famed members. Also included in the set are Rockstar Relics, which are highly-unique memorabilia cards that will feature the six band members and an authentic swatch of KISS-worn clothing including Paul Stanley vests, concert-used drum heads and concert-worn costumes.
